Enjoy this beginner arrangement of the Passacalle from Boccherini’s Night Music on the Streets of Madrid (La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid)! This lovely melody is set here in familiar C Major range, with RH melody and simple LH accompaniment. RH melody is almost entirely stepping notes, with eighth notes and a few dotted quarter rhythms, and it plays 8va and forte on the repeat for a new sound without adding significant challenge. LH is easy to follow, with only three unique two-note harmonies (dyads) throughout. No flats or sharps. Great for small hands and beginner piano students who are just getting comfortable with two-hand playing.
Dvořák incredible “New World Symphony” is filled with memorable musical themes. This arrangement features three of the allegro themes found in Movement 1. Each theme builds in intensity and speed, from the beginning major “Allegro moderato” to the bold and brassy minor “Allegro con brio” finish. This exciting arrangement is best for early to mid intermediate pianists and is a very showy performance piece.
This beautiful, simple American folk melody is delicately arranged here as a peaceful piano solo. Perfect for late beginner to early intermediate level pianists, it introduces the beauty of minor keys, broken chords, expressive dynamics, and playing in different octaves of the piano. The joyful fourth movement of Handel’s “Music for the Royal Fireworks”, which Handel wrote for King George II for the fireworks show celebrating the peace of Aix la Chapelle in May 1749. This theme from Mozart’s famous opera “The Magic Flute” is playful, fun, and perfect for elementary pianists. It is a great piece to strengthen intervallic reading: nearly all the included intervals are either 2nds (steps), 3rds (skips), or 4ths. Occasional fingerings are also included for assistance. This arrangement of “I Saw a Mighty Angel Fly” is for Women’s Ensemble (SSAA), Flute, and Piano. It was first performed at a women’s conference celebrating the bicentennial of Joseph Smith’s First Vision. One of my wonderful piano students asked me arrange her two favorite hymns into a piano solo before she left to serve as a church missionary. This sacred piano solo combines Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing and Joseph Smith’s First Prayer (Oh, How Lovely was the Morning). Written in contemporary style with classical influences, it begins with Come Thou Fount and transitions into Joseph Smith’s First Prayer, then ultimately concludes with both melodies played simultaneously.

With a sailing 6/8 time signature reminiscent of old sea shanties and a melody that alternates between treble and bass, let’s hope you have your sea legs as this piece is sure to keep you on your toes. Sailing the Seven Seas is a catchy, lively piece that performs well at recitals and is especially written for early intermediate pianists who enjoy adventures and pirate music for piano.
Any late beginner or early intermediate pianist itching to play ragtime will love the Cheerio Rag! This original piece combines easy LH stride accompaniment and rhythmic RH melody sprinkled with accidentals and subdivision offbeats to capture that quintessential playful ragtime sound.
This lovely Chinese melody based on the pentatonic scale is arranged here as an easy piano solo for the late beginner/early intermediate pianist. The damper pedal is held throughout so that the tones continue to resonate for a full, ringing sound. The arrangement encourages familiarity with piano geography as the hands travel back and forth. A great choice for a recital piece.
