“A Major General”: An energetic military march complete with Hup, Two, Three, Four chords in LH. RH melody is a patriotic fanfare saluting A Major General. Fun lyrics, ends with a drumroll and “sir, yes, sir!”
“A Miner (Minor)”: A sad, slow song with lyrics about A Miner who couldn’t find any ore to mine. Set in A harmonic minor, with a dramatic ritardando ending and fermatas.
This joyful arrangement is filled with excitement and energy. Full chords, bold octaves, exuberant dynamics, unique chord choices, and a plethora of musical transitions give this vivacious melody even more life. The brilliance of Handel and Mason is meshed with Tchaikovsky as his famous Nutcracker Russian Dance sneaks in to inspire each key change. With a quick tempo, lively rhythms, and 5 key signatures to cover, this arrangement is an incredible Christmas showcase solo for a religious or holiday performance.
Please note: Sostenuto pedal is recommended (in addition to sustain pedal) for the final 4 measures.
This intermediate piano solo is cheery and welcoming. It begins with a warm and simple introduction that develops into progressively more involved accompaniment and harmonies to a fortissimo finish! With a key change, octave changes, and an ever-building natural momentum, this arrangement is fun and rewarding without being overly challenging for mid-intermediate students. It’s a great Christmas concert showpiece!
